Who we are...
The Triangle Pride Band is a community band program designed to provide opportunities for musicianship, community building, and advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community in the Triangle area of North Carolina. The Triangle Pride Band holds two commitments: (1) to create a space for musicians to perform and rehearse high-quality music, and (2) to uplift and create safe spaces for socialization and community-building in the LGBTQIA+ community.

Can I still join if the registration form is closed?
- No. If our form is closed then it will stay closed until the next cycle! Please subscribe to our newsletter or social medias to stay updated!
When can I join the symphonic band?
- The Triangle Pride Symphonic Band typically rehearses and perform in three (3) cycles each year-starting in January, April, and September. Registration opens about a month before the first rehearsal or once we reach capacity. To stay informed, we recommend subscribing to our newsletter and following us on social media.
Do I need to audition?
- No, at this time our Symphonic Band is non-auditioned. Triangle Pride Band takes great pride in having performance groups that accommodate most skills level and are accessible to working professionals.
When is Rehearsal?
- Currently, we are rehearsing on Sundays from 6pm-8pm in the Downtown Raleigh area.
What if I haven’t played my instrument in years?
- DO NOT STRESS… We are accepting and accommodating to most skill levels. Pick up that instrument and join us — it’ll come back quicker than you thought. Members are encouraged to bring fingering or position charts and ask your neighbor for help. Just. Have. FUN.
- Please note: The Triangle Pride Band does not currently have brass or woodwind instruments available for loan or rent; however, we would be happy to refer you to a local retailer where you can rent or purchase an instrument.
What difficulty of music does the Symphonic Band perform?
- The Triangle Pride Symphonic Band aims to create accessible and enjoyable musical experiences for performers of all ability levels. Each cycle typically features music ranging from Grade III to easier Grade VI, with most pieces falling around Grade IV. We work to program a few “stretch” pieces each cycle to challenge advanced players, along with some more immediately accessible pieces for newer or more casual performers.
Do I need to identify as LGBTQ+ to participate?
- NO! The Triangle Pride Band is proud to welcome all musicians, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. While our mission centers on celebrating and uplisting the LGBTQ+ community, allies are warmly encouraged to join and be part of our musical family!
Are there dues for participation?
- Yes. The Triangle Pride Symphonic Band asks each member to pay dues each concert cycles to help cover rehearsal space, sheet music, equipment and other program costs. Members have three options:
- Pay the standard cycle due of twenty five dollars ($25.00)
- Pay thirty five dollars ($35.00), which covers your dues and helps support another member experiencing financial hardship
- Register through our Community Fund at no cost ($0.00)- no questions asked.
We are committed to making participating accessible to everyone, and you’re welcome to choose the option that best fits your situation.
